Yes. The mountains in Colorado can be quite dramatic. The Sierra Nevada range in California is even more dramatic. But don't sell the Scottish Highlands short. I hear the hiking there can be quite spectacular and very wet. If a friend of mine invests in some Scottish real estate as he says is going to, I migh get the chance to find out.

one place i've never been to is the true Highlands of Scotland... been as far north as Loch Lomond though...
it was FULL OF MIDGIES esp up Ben Lomond the local mountain in high summer... really inconvenient... I think that's why the Queen does Scotland in summer. Knowing the midgies will keep the press away!
